[Thoughts] Bad Apple Wars: Aruma

[CG can be found on the official site so I don’t count it as a spoiler ^^;]

So I finished Aruma’s route last night and aaaaaaaaaaah. I CRIED SO MUCH…BECAUSE OF A SUB CHARA OTL.

The OST is really nice and over all the presentation was well done. I did find the story telling screens (not really sure how to put it) a bit ??? to begin with but I got used to them.

When it comes to making choices in this game there’s little to none. You just pick where to go and play around with the touch mini game thing. It was kind of nice not having to pick dialogue options.

Character wise I actually really like them all from my first impression ;; The sensei trio though OH MAN. Usagi sensei can be a bit creepy but he’s so well done I wish there was more of him. Bucket sensei is probably your most sane and the nicest of them and then there’s gas mask sensei…I like to imagine him as an S ice cream (because he’s a self proclaimed soft S)

The ‘bad kids’ aaaaaaah Im not going to say any more until under the cut OTL

(CGs and Spoilers below)

lskjdhvjk\eh STUPID STUPID GAME. So the point of the bad kids is to get themselves expelled from the school in order to return to the living. During the school festival Sanzu and You (MY BBYS) put on a live and Sanzu’s song manages to move the hearts of her fellow students. Having broken one of the school rules she gets auto graduation and DISAPPEARS.

You (the green haired guy..that’s his name) falls into despair and joins the good kids in order to forget about Sanzu and everything because she’s gone ;;

… HOW COULD YOU WRECK MY OTP. In the end when the bad apple’s crash the graduation ceremony Aruma’s speech convinces some of the kids that converted to the good side (after the sanzu incident) to come back INCLUDING YOU. I cried so much when You came back TAT

In the good ending Rinka wakes up in hospital and comes across a girl that im guessing is Sanzu reborn (it’s hinted but not confirmed).

There’s a really cute moment near the end where Rinka suggests they all tie Aruma’s read string on all their little fingers so no matter what happens they’ll always be connects ;;

On to Aruma….the guy who’s route I was actually doing >.>;

Aruma’s pretty quiet and not as animated as his gang but he has his cute moments. He holds promises very dear to him having made a promise to a girl when he was still alive. They had promised to live and grow old together but sadly the girl was sick and eventually passed away. Aruma promised to always remember her but as time went on he started to forget and afraid to break another promise he chose to jump the fence on the rooftop and committed suicide throwing himself off.

[One of the flashback/Story moments from Aruma’s past.]

The main part of the route was fun but at times I felt the dialogue dragged a bit (that or I had clearly spent too long playing). During the test arc Aruma has to appear as a ‘good kid’ and appears with black hair which looks great on him T^T

image

In the epilogue Aruma’s a doctor (who had saved Rinka’s life) and they get together after she graduates.

image

Last thing…later on in the game the touch mini game turns them…well naked…as they connect on a more spiritual level…I…I couldn’t even find words for this the first time it happened and I still really can’t (/)u(\)

Overall I really enjoyed my first route. The story was a little repetitive with the whole School event coming up -> prepare -> Day of event thing but the characters really help this game out a lot. It’s one of the shorter games i’ve played but I don’t think making this game any longer would have necessarily made it any better, it seems just the right length given the content.

From a first glance romance definitely takes a back seat to the story and if you want lovey dovey moments you probably won’t get many from this game.
